I have never read much of the fantasy genre but I am willing to give it a try. I don't really have any suggestions. I just finished Princes of Ireland by Edward Rutherfurd and I cannot say I recommend it. I am a pretty big fan of historical fiction but this was not as good as his previous books especially London. I think my next book will be Long Dark Teatime of the Soul by Douglas Adams. I have not heard good reviews of the Hitchhikers Guide movie so I will read one of his later books instead. I think I will also pick up Peace Kills by P.J. O'Rourke.

Sean, what did you think of the HBO version of Empire Falls. I haven't seen it yet and I don't know if I want to spend 4 hours of my life watching a story when I already know the ending.

Why not read HItchikers's guide. I avoided until a few years back an then absolutly loved it.

I'll do Hitchhiker's Guide. I recall reading a few of the books way back in Jr. High - is there a triangulation you can use to figure out how absolutely old I am? If so, leave it alone -- and I enjoyed them for the nonsensical characters and things in the universe. Isn't there a translation fish that swims in your ear and can translate all the languages of the universe?

I read all 5 books in the Guide trilogy last year to get ready for the movie version. I had read them all many years ago and I enjoyed them both times. I'll read the guide again for the book club or we can do something else.
