I gave myself a haircut last night. BEFORE I went out drinking.  Most people probably decide to cut their own hair after .  Its a bit uneven, but in a way only a true hack could accomplish. This ain't designer choppage, it’s the real deal.

Then, after the hair cut, I saw Vendetta on IMAX.  I saw the parts with Portman in them at least. It's  hard to view the whole screen at once so I watched the section of the screen that she was in.

Later, over some tri-tip at Buckhorn I checked my journal to confirm what I had initially suspected: Vendetta is the hundredth film in a row in which the only Catholic in the movie is a pederast.   Kim made the strangely non-compelling argument that even in the time of Alexander Dumas, the Bishop is an asshole. I had to think on it for a second before I realized she was even arguing with me.  Well, perhaps at some point the Evil Priest used to be a shocking bit of unexpected narrative, but the only thing that will surprise me is  if the Priest manages to escape  a movie without trying to diddle someone.

Someone should count how many action/thrillers have come out since 9/11 where the villains weren’t Muslims.  That streak is going to end with United 93. Hopefully. You never know with Hollywood, right?  The hijackers  could all turn out to be NeoNazis. The ex-army guy on the plane is going to be a homophobic homosexual  who sides with the Nazi terrorists.  Shocking.

Oh well, I hate writing about stuff like this since it’s the domain of pissed of conservative bloggers, not easygoing navel gazers like myself.  The Catholic thing does get to  me though. Someone pointed it out to me before that movie Chocolat many years ago and It has bothered me since. It doesn't make me angry, it just distracts me.  From now on, whenever the stock old Catholic Priest is shown to be a villian in a movie I am going to gasp outloud and feign shock:   "oh my! But he's a PRIEST!?"

Vendetta was a very good movie, just a bit cliche, despite all their efforts to turn everything on its head.    Lazer Lass Rocks though.
